New home
This little annexe where Helen and I live is in front of the larger house that Jan built 20 years ago. The annexe is a more recent build. He's always pottering around making things out of wood and constructing new parts to his house. I can't believe he built this all with his own hands - I've questioned him but he doesn't seem to see it as a feat at all; just pretty normal. It is when you think about it. All of the materials are reclaimed - from the slate roofs, to the stones in the walls and the flooring which came from the old town hall. All the fittings such as bath taps and door handles are old british parts so very sturdy and solid, and beautiful. I feel very lucky to have such a kind and creative landlord and be living in the house he built.
Meadows which I suppose are our garden, which run down to a stream...a good picnic spot for summer.
Watch out for the snakes!
